Pennsylvania Department of Health Requirement

Pennsylvania paramedic and AEMT’s must renew every 2 years.  Pennsylvania EMR’s and EMT’s must renew every three years.  28 PA. CODE CHS § 1023.31.

Pennsylvania licensees who will be maintaining their NREMT certification will need to ensure that they meet NREMT requirements.

EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1, 2015, all persons applying for issuance of an initial license shall be required to complete 3 hours of DPW-approved training in child abuse recognition and reporting requirements as a condition of licensure.

Additionally, EFFECTIVE WITH THE FIRST LICENSE RENEWAL AFTER JANUARY 1, 2015, all health-related licensees and funeral directors applying for the renewal of a license issued by the Board shall be required to complete at least 2 hours of Board-approved continuing education in child abuse recognition and reporting requirements as a condition of renewal.

Requirements for Advanced EMT (AEMT):

36 hours of continuing education every two years.  28 PA. CODE CHS § 1023.31(d). Distance CME recomends this program Refresher


Requirements for EMT:

24 hours of continuing education every three years.  28 PA. CODE CHS § 1023.31(c). Distance CME recomends this program Refresher


Requirements for EMR:

16 hours of continuing education every three years.  28 PA. CODE CHS § 1023.31(b). Distance CME recomends this program Refresher
