Alaska Department of Health and Social Services, Emergency Medical Services Unit Requirements

Alaska EMT certifications expire every 2 years. An EMT-I’s recertification expires the second December 31. An EMT-II or EMT-III’s recertification expires on the second March 31. Title 7 AAC 26.000. Alaska MICP licenses are issued for a two-year period and expire December 31 of even-numbered years. Title 12 AAC 40.340.

Requirements for MICP (Paramedics):

120 classroom hours of CME to include six hours specific to pediatrics every two years. Title 12 AAC 40.350. Mobile Intensive Care Paramedics are governed by the Alaska State Medical Board. DistanceCME recommends this program 48 Hour EMS Refresher + Anytime


Requirements for EMT-III (AEMT):

48 hours of CME to include two hours specific to pediatrics every two years. Title 7 AAC 26.110. DistanceCME recommends this program  ALS NCCP + Anytime


Requirements for EMT-II (Intermediate):

48 hours of CME to include two hours specific to pediatrics every two years. Title 7 AAC 26.110. DistanceCME recommends this program  48 Hour EMS Refresher


Requirements for EMT-1 (EMT):

48 hours of CME to include two hours specific to pediatrics every two years. Title 7 AAC 26.110. DistanceCME recommends this program  48 Hour EMS Refresher


Requirements for ETT (EMR):
