This self-paced course is designed for EMS professionals providing of comprehensive overview of trauma assessment and management.
- Provides an in-depth exploration of trauma pathophysiology, assessment, and management principles.
- Review the continuum of trauma care from initial scene evaluation to interfacility transfer, emphasizing the provider’s role in recognizing life-threatening conditions and implementing evidence-based interventions that improve survival and neurological outcomes.
- Topics include traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury syndromes, maxillofacial trauma, and burn management, as well as advanced hemorrhage control and pharmacologic adjuncts such as tranexamic acid. Special attention is given to high-risk populations—pediatric, geriatric, bariatric, and obstetric patients—whose anatomy and physiology present unique challenges during transport.
- Upon completion, participants will demonstrate an enhanced ability to assess, stabilize, and safely transport trauma patients while minimizing secondary injury and ensuring continuity of care between facilities.
Through detailed case-based discussions and scenario applications, this course reinforces critical thinking and clinical decision-making skills essential to optimizing outcomes in complex trauma care.
