This self-paced course is designed for EMS providers who may respond to mass casualty incidents (MCIs), terrorist attacks, or large-scale disasters.
- Provides an in-depth understanding of terrorism response, incident management, and trauma triage.
- Explores key topics including terrorism classification, weapons of mass destruction (WMDs), chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosive (CBRNE) threats.
- Emphasizes importance of scene safety, decontamination, and responder awareness.
- Covers the principles of the National Incident Management System (NIMS), the Incident Command System (ICS), and the role of EMS within disaster response operations.
- Significant focus on mass casualty triage systems, including START and JumpSTART triage, field trauma assessment, and patient transport prioritization.
Case-based scenarios provide real-world applications of these concepts, reinforcing decision-making skills in high-pressure situations. By the end of this course, EMS providers will be better prepared to respond to terrorism-related incidents, manage multi-agency coordination, and ensure optimal patient care and resource allocation during MCIs.
