Minnesota Emergency Medical Services Regulatory Board Requirements

Minnesota certifications must renew every 2 years.  §144E.28.  For recertification, an applicant shall submit one of the following:
  • Complete the United States Department of Transportation EMT refresher course and successful pass the practical skills test portion of the course OR
  • Complete the NCCP Model, which has been approved by the EMSRB Board
  • Completion of continuing education hours as listed below OR

In this unprecedented time, states and the NREMT are trying to update policies to keep us safe while retaining the levels of education and certification. Please check with your state to ensure you have the most up-to-date requirements.

Requirements for Paramedics:

48 hours of continuing education every 2 years.  §144E.28, subd. 7(b)(2). Enroll in our ALS NCCP + Anytime refresher course to fulfill these requirements.


Requirements for Advanced EMT (AEMT):

48 hours of continuing education every 2 years.  §144E.28, subd. 7(b)(2).Enroll in our ALS NCCP + Anytime refresher course to fulfill these requirements.


Requirements for EMTs:

48 hours of continued education every 2 years.  §144E.28, subd. 7(a)(2). Enroll in our BLS NCCP + Anytime refresher course to fulfill these requirements.


Requirements for EMRs:

16 hour EMR Refresher or an NCCP Program (8 hours NCCR, 4 hours LCCP, and 4 hours ICCP).  §144E.28, subd. 7(a)(2). Enroll in our EMR NCCP Refresher course to fulfill these requirements.
