AHLS for Chemical Burns & Toxic Products of Combustion

AHLS for Chemical Burns is a 4-hour course and is derived from the AHLS Providercourse. The course fills the training requirements for the US Health Resources Services Administration (HRSA) Bioterrorism Hospital Preparedness Programs (BHPP) for the care of burn victims of terrorist attacks.
After completing the course, participants will be able to:
- Recognize that inhalation is the most common route of exposure at hazmat incidents
- List the routes of exposure for acids, bases, oxidizers and phosphorus
- Describe characteristic signs and symptoms of poisoning by hydrofluoric acid and fluorides
- Recite the poisoning treatement for asphyxiant poisoning
